So handy to have a sink in the garden instead of a hose and a bucket. No plumbing required!
Set your old sink on a support: table, legs, potting bench and place a bucket underneath to catch waste water. Thread a hose through the faucet holes and voila! an outdoor sink. Get a little fancier by adding a hose nozzle. So many options.
This setup can be as simple or as fancy as you want it to be. Tile the top of the table, add a door to hide the bucket, plumb in a faucet if you really want that feature.
I love that the “waste” water can be used to water other plants, and there is a place to wash my veggies (no more dirt and bugs in the kitchen sink) before bringing them in.
And don’t forget that you can fill it with ice and drinks for guests when they come over. No more drinks swimming in a slushy cooler – the melting ice water is automatically drained right into the bucket. You don’t even have to clean out the sink afterwards.
I’ll be making one of these before the fireworks tonight. Happy Independence Day!
